PRE-HAIR REMOVAL ADVICE
Please advise your esthetician if you are taking any medications, menstruating, pregnant or breast feeding.
If you are concerned about discomfort during your hair removal appointment, take a pain reliever 20-30 minutes prior to your appointment.
Hair must be at least a ¼ of an inch long. This length in normally achieved if you stop shaving for a week to a week and a half. This is also the length it will be 3-4 weeks after your last hair removal appointment and when you will be ready for your next appointment.
Please refrain from chemical peels, Retin A, retinols and products that could increase skin sensitivity as well as tanning at least one week prior to your wax appointment. The use of these products and activities can cause adverse effects after hair removal.
If you are taking Accutane you will be ineligible for hair removal.
Avoid the sun and tanning booths during your hair removal regime. Over exposure can lead to peeling, burning or hyper-pigmentation. Make sure to always wear an SPF 30 or higher when exposed to the sun.
POST-HAIR REMOVAL ADVICE
To ensure the best results from hair removal please make sure to always exfoliate before and after your services. A physical scrub/exfoliant can be used also a liquid exfoliant, such as PFB, which Scrumptious Skin highly recommends.
Exfoliating helps reduce ingrown hairs, bumps and irritation. Make sure to exfoliate a minimum of 3-4 times a week. Continue exfoliating throughout the duration of your waxing regime.
Avoid picking at irritated areas, this will only aggravate the skin further and can create scar tissue. Continue exfoliation to help unclog the hair follicle. This will remove the blockage and allow the hair to come to the surface.
You may feel sensitive after your hair removal. Most sensitivity subsides within a few hours to a day. If you feel sensitive, refrain from exfoliating till your skin feels less sensitive. You may want to avoid hot showers, baths, saunas, hot tubs, exercising or sexual activity. If you are feeling discomfort you may apply an over the counter cortisone cream or aloe vera to the sensitive area as well. Be sure to follow and adhere to all product directions.
It may take more than one hair removal session to sync up your hair growth. Avoid shaving between appointments to ensure the best result.
You will be ready for your next appointment 3-4 weeks after your appointment. Individual hair growth may vary from person to person. If you would like to keep a regular hair removal regime, we recommend not going longer than 6 weeks between appointments.
